As you can see by the photo, a golden tabby tiger is an awe-inspiring tiger with a tremendously rare color variation, which is caused by a recessive gene and is in general found only in captive tigers. Like the white tiger, it is not a separate species; it is simply a color form. Golden tigers also have a tendency to be larger and, because of to the effect of the gene on the hair shaft, have softer fur than their orange relatives.
