Be A Responsible Owner - Spay Or Neuter Your Pet

The most important thing that we can do to save unwanted pets (including puppies and kittens) from all the suffering and death that their overpopulation causes is to spay and neuter them. Spaying and neutering are routine, affordable surgeries that can prevent thousands of animals from being born, only to suffer and struggle to survive on the streets, be abused by cruel or neglectful people, or be euthanized in animal shelters for lack of a loving home.

Consult with your veterinarian about the most appropriate time to spay or neuter your pet based upon its breed, age and physical condition, and let your family and friends know that they ought to do the same.

Kitten Cuddling Up To Canine Friend

Tiny 8-week-old tabby kitten Cindy is seen cuddling up to her canine friend, 8-year-old golden retriever Harvey, at the Lost Dogs Home in Melbourne, Australia. The pair have put the difference of their species aside to be the new furry faces of the animal shelter's latest campaign. However, judging by the close paw protective Harvey is keeping around the cute cat the pair are looking for a home together.

Meet Venus, The Two-Faced Chimera Cat...

Yesterday I came across an extraordinarily beautiful cat which has apparently become an internet sensation. I have no doubt that you are going to agree with this statement after you meet Venus, the two faced cat! As you can see by the image, Venus’s face is perfectly divided between black and calico, and besides that she also has heterochromia, which means that her eyes are different colors. Venus’s left eye is blue and her right eye is green. So tell me, which side do you like the most? If you want to see a video footage and more images of Venus click on the following link.

My Cat Pantufa Has Cancer... (Part II)

Today I went to fetch Pantufa at the vet. As soon as I laid my eyes upon her, I started crying… The surgery left Pantufa with an enormous incision (as you can see by the above photo that I took of her a few minutes ago)! The doctor explained to us that the tumor had spread a lot within her body – and that he did all he could to remove as much as possible. He also made it very clear that the probability of the tumor returning was big…

I honestly don’t know what is going to happen to Pantufa in the near future, but all I can say is that at least I tried and will continue to try to do all I can for my very much loved Pantufa... Like I said on my previous post about her… Miracles can happen! I better go now because Pantufa probably needs me!

My Cat Pantufa Has Cancer... (Part I)

Many of my readers have already met my beautiful cat called Pantufa. I noticed a small lump on Pantufas body a few weeks ago - so I took her to the vet immediately. After Dr. Eduardo made the necessary examinations on her he informed me that it was a tumor and that I had 3 options:

Put her through surgery and medication to remove the tumor...
Do nothing to her...
Put her to sleep...

The doctor made it clear that if I chose surgery, it wouldn’t guarantee that she would recover 100 percent! I had the weekend to decide the best option for Pantufa, and believe me it was extremely difficult. I cried the whole weekend… To me she seems so happy and relatively healthy enough so I would never bring myself to put her to sleep. I just cannot imagine her gone… To do nothing to her was also out of the question, so I had to decide and quick. On Monday (after the weekend)  I took Pantufa to the vet and I chose to go with the surgery hoping that Pantufa will come through it without a tumor. Miracles do happen…

Cats And Their Pizza Boxes

My cat (Pantufa) not only loves to sleep on pizza boxes, but also on any type of box! After I had a look at these incredibly cute images of “cats that love pizza boxes” I reached the conclusion that Panufa had many cat friends with the same habit! Apparently for cats, boxes offer a wonderful combination of two of their most wanted things: boxes and warmth … For many more cute images go to Damn Cool Pictures !

Rest In Peace, Dear Lucky

Pets aren’t just adopted in our family, they become family. Lucky was adopted, my husband found him many years ago in a hit-and-run scene. He was left behind! Lucky died of old age (+/- 15 years).
(unknown) ~ 07-02-2011
The time has come I think you know
the Lord is calling so I must go
I love you so much; I wish it wasn't so
I wish I could stay; I don't want to go

You're the best family a cat ever had
so kind and gentle, never mean or mad
I'll never forget the day that we met
I was so lucky to become your pet

You opened your door and showed me your heart
I'll never forget you; we'll never part
you loved me and cared for me over the years
you taught me everything and took away my fears

The Lord is calling now I must go
but before I go I want you to know
I know it hurts to lose a friend
but I'll always be with you even to the end.

Guess What I Bought For My Cat?

I’m sure that most people already know that cats like scratching things. My cat is called Pantufa and she loves to scratch anything and everything, such as plants, furniture, kitchen cupboards and so on. Punishing Pantufa was out of the question because I've always known that cats can sometimes be very destructive with their claws, so I decided to invest in a cat condo which is also known as a cat tree. I have no doubt that this is probably the best purchase that I've ever made for my cat, and not to mention my house. If only you could see how Pantufa has fun when she climbs and scratches the post. She is actually on it right now – resting on the top. Cat trees offer various heights, tops, tray sizes, sisal options and a wide range of colors. They are also designed for cats of all abilities and ages. The cat tree has given my cat the comfort of the soft carpet, a place to play and scratch, and the most important, to be the animal she is.

The Most Popular Pet In The World...

There are many people who say that if a black cat crosses your path you will have bad luck. Well, don´t believe a word of it because it´s pure nonsense! A cat is simply an outstanding four-footed animal that is covered by bundle of fur. These creatures make wonderful pets and are currently known as the most popular pets in the world. They are playful, curious adventurous, affectionate, and extremely entertaining.

The bond between cats and humans has a history that has lasted for over 9000 years. Actually, the ancient Egyptians were the first group we know of that adored cats. Apart from the precise reason, cats came to be sacred animals in Egypt. They were adored in temples, loved and protected while they lived, embalmed and wrapped in mummy bandages when they died. There were even cat graveyards in the city of the Bubastis and other places in Egypt. Even the Egyptian statues of cats are amongst the most astounding that have ever been made.

Just by looking at the few images that I have placed on this blog, I can totally understand why cats were and still are SO popular amongst people... Don´t you agree?

An Animal Playing the Piano

Believe it or not, but it´s true! The video that you are about to see is of a cat playing the piano. This beautiful grey cat called Nora was rescued from a shelter in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. When a year old, Nora surprised her owners at their home in Philadelphia when she climbed up onto a bench in front of a Yamaha Disklavier piano in the middle of the night and started to play. Since then, Nora continued to play piano on a daily basis. Nora plays alone and even enjoys playing duets with her owner and her owner’s students.

Nora became famous since the creation of a You Tube video in 2007, which was encouraged by the students. It was featured on many talk shows, newspapers and news channels. Nora has even attracted the interest of both musicians and scientists, who are completely fascinated by her behavior. The first time I had a look at the video I couldn´t believe my eyes, Nora is a rare and amazing cat…
